Week 9 Reflection

This is my reflection for week 9, I think its been a good week. On Monday through Wednesday nothing very remarkable happened, just usual lessons but on Wednesday we did tech. For tech we had to make fort Ruapekapeka in Minecraft, it was a highly advanced Maori fort made in 1845 with bunkers, trenches, cannon-proof walls and houses. I built the walls while others did the rest. We worked quite slowly so we should probably improve on that and need to improve and finish off the fort next time.

On Friday we did action stations, which I do loose parts shed, I built a jousting arena with a few others. It was originally civilised jousting until the spectators stole weapons and fought the jousters they didn’t like. Next time we should probably have security or quartermasters, and since we didn’t have many spectators we should do more advertising next time.

Next week I should work faster at tech and organise jousting better.

Leadership

Recently for Y8 leadership we have been doing some things, first we did robot dodge ball which had the robot, who was blindfolded and was the only one allowed in the ring and was blindfolded, then there was the controller who had their back to the ring and told the robot what to do, next was the visualiser who could see the ring but only mime the actions, finally was the assistant who could see the ring, tallied scores and kept the robot in the ring.

This was pretty difficult, I was the visualizer, Hunter was the controller, Jamie was the visualiser, and Quinn was the robot, we decided to select Quinn as the leader because he banged his head into a door. we also talked about leadership concepts and how they didn’t have to be up front and also discussed what we like and stuff, like what I enjoy doing (gaming) and what I want to learn (cave diving).

Week 6 Reflection

This week I was away for the first 2 days because I was sick so I don’t have anything to say, but on Wednesday it was a pretty normal day, on Thursday it was tech. In digital tech we did Minecraft coding to escape a haunted mansion, I chose a harder path so I didn’t finish. I think that I could have done it as I was on the last quarter of the last stage and only ran out of time because I got confused about directions in the code. Also today we did some maths and blooket and there is swim sports which I chose not to do because I didn’t have togs.

Week 5 Reflection

I had my first swimming lesson this week which was pretty fun but it was cloudy. We had to do 10 laps, 5 of survival backstroke and 5 of survival breathstroke, the hard part was breathstroke because my arms hurt a bit.

For maths I did some place value which wasn’t very hard but I decided to skip the garbled text that was exponents extension. For literacy we had to do an Asttle, I did mine about global warming, as well as we had to write a  haiku poem.

At tech I do digital tech. This time I had to code part of a game about finding Tutankhamen which was straightforward enough, though looked very complicated.

Week 3 Reflection

This week has been the first proper week of school, it was pretty unremarkable, just maths and literacy. But it was the first week of tech. I did digital technologies where we designed games. The challenging part was probably just fitting the stuff in in the time frame.

T1 W1 Reflection

This week was my first week of school this year, sadly the holidays weren’t eternal. Luckily this week also only has 3 days so I have a long weekend which is going to be 5 days, as long as a whole school week.

The best part is that my friends Dylan, Sebastian and Niko came in now, so we can talk more.

The most challenging thing is probably shutting up since I haven’t seen my friends in ages, but otherwise it has been a good school week and I’m looking forward to the next one.

Random Thingy

Today I made a thing welcoming year 6s to Tangaroa. Although it was pretty difficult because I didn’t know what to say (I’m atrocious at greetings) so its pretty bad.

Cafe Tangaroa

Today I had to do a tree diagram of all the options at Cafe Tangaroa (it’s not an actual cafe), There were 7 options; Fish Fingers, Prawn Horns, Surf And Turf, Seaweed Bolognese, Octopus ‘n’ Cheese, Jellyfish and Crab Brulee.

Writing

Today I did writing and made a book cover. I decided to write a book about the history of Terra forma, a planet the Roblox games Dead Ahead and Centaura are based on. I chose this because I thought it was a pretty cool game with a lot of lore.

Action Stations

Today I did action stations. I did world building 101 with Eugene. We first learned about some fictional worlds like star wars and disc world. Afterwards we started brainstorming for our world, Mines Nebula something something. It is a nebula warred over between space faring nations for stardust, a plentiful resource there used in many futuristic industrial applications, there are no habitable planets meaning resources need to be constantly shipped in and cars, houses and clothing need to be airtight.
